About Us.

In 2014, a few Iron Range runners got chatting at a local race and decided to start organizing some group runs. A Facebook group page (Iron Range Running Club) was created with the intention of uniting like-minded runners to help facilitate group runs and share our running experiences. The Facebook group spread quickly as we branched out to add over one-hundred local runners to the group. After an informal vote amongst members, the name was changed to Range Runners. During our first year, we had several successful group runs and a picnic near the end of the season to help get everyone acquainted. During that picnic, the benefits of becoming a member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) was discussed. The group felt an affiliation with the RRCA would help promote the club by giving it additional credentials as well as provide the necessary insurance to protect us as individuals.

The Range Runners Running Club became an official RRCA club in 2015. We have grown in our first 4 years as an RRCA club from 32 registered members to 66 in 2018. Our Facebook page continues to grow and now has over 400 followers. Our Board of Directors consists of the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 4 At-Large positions. We meet on the 3rd Monday of each quarter. The goal of the Board is to provide as many perks to our members as possible. We volunteer our time and resources to improve the quality of existing local races while working to establish our own club events.

Our Mission:
This group is organized to provide a structured organization for the purpose of promoting running as a sport and healthy lifestyle within our community. In furtherance of our purpose, the club hosts group runs, fun runs, training runs and programs on the road and/or track, hosts education lectures about topics of interest for runners, provides awards for club members, hosts social events for members, and all such other things as may be conducive to the encouragement of running. The club also engages in community activities, to publicize by appropriate means, the benefits of running as a means of physical fitness to improve the health status of people in our community.
